Mexico got back on track in Indonesia with a 4-0 win over New Zealand to advance to the last 16 of the U17 World Cup. Coupled with Germany’s 3-0 win over Venezuela, they secured qualification as second-place finishers in Group F.

In the round of 16, Mexico will play Mali, who also finished as the second-placed team in Group B behind Spain.

Mexico vs Mali

The West African nation has been going strong at this World Cup. In their opener, they beat Uzbekistan 3-0, then lost narrowly to Spain, and later cruised past Canada 5-1 to secure qualification.

Mexico will be looking for the third star in their history, while their round of 16 opponents will be looking to have their best showing since the 2015 World Cup, where they had to settle for second place after losing the final to Nigeria. The match will be played on Tuesday 21 November.
