The injury crisis to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid side continues, and the Spanish side are set to get their Champions League campaign underway against VfB Stuttgart (Tuesday 17 September, 3pm ET) without a number of important figures in the side.

Both Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba, as well as Brahim Díaz and Dani Ceballos are set to miss out on the game against their German opponents at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu due to injury.

Real Madrid have had a rocky start to the 2024-25 season, and sit in 3rd place in LaLiga after winning just 3 of their 5 games in the domestic competition so far.

What injury does David Alaba have?

An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear for Alaba will likely see him out of action until 2025, per reports from Austria which came out in July of this year. The player served as Austria’s assistant coach in the Euros and a return to the pitch any time soon looks a long way off.

When will Camavinga be back?

Screams were heard from the French midfielder as he went own after an accidental clash with compatriot Aurélien Tchouaméni in a training session ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final back in August. The brief message soon came from the club: “After tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga, he has been diagnosed with a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Pending further evaluation”. Camavinga should be back in around a month from now.

What is Brahim’s injury?

The Moroccan forward injured himself in the game against Real Sociedad and was replaced by Rodrygo Goes after just 24 minutes. Real Madrid confirmed shortly after the game, which they won 0-2, that the player had torn the adductor longus muscle of his right leg and would be out for around 3 months.
