Why is Hirving Lozano not playing for PSV in the UEFA Champions League?
The Mexican was left out of PSV’s starting XI in the Champions League against Arsenal.
Mexican forward Hirving Lozano was left out of PSV match day XI in the UEFA Champions League game against Arsenal in Group B.
‘Chucky’ made the move to PSV from Napoli at the end of the summer after a long stretch of weeks and months where his future was the subject of huge speculation. The transfer was met with a huge sense of satisfaction from the player who returned to the club where he made his debut in Europe, but now it seems that Lozano has been forced to sit on the bench.
Peter Bosz left the player out of the lineup against The Gunners, preferring to go with Noa Lang on his preferred left side. The move did not go well for the Eredivisie side, who went 3-0 down within 40 minutes.
Why was Lozano on the bench?
There is no known injury to Chucky Lozano, meaning that the decision was entirely tactical from the manager, who simply chose not to go with the player in his starting lineup. While it is true that Lozano has had very little game time this season and last, it still comes as something of a surprise to see that he is yet to start a game for PSV this season.
Why was Ricardo Pepi on the bench?
Ricardo Pepi, who argued with Chucky over taking a penalty last week in the league, was also left out of the starting team by Bosz, who opted for the ex-Barça striker, Luuk de Jong. Again, as with Lozano, the decision appears tactical instead of injury related.
