Why isn’t Aurélien Tchouaméni playing for Real Madrid against Granada in LaLiga?

Real Madrid defeated Bayern Munich in dramatic fashion on Wednesday in the Champions League semi-finals, although their victory could come at something of a cost. With the final against Borussia Dortmund three weeks away, midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, who won’t feature in Saturday’s LaLiga game away to Granada, is in danger of missing out.

What injury did Tchouaméni suffer against Bayern Munich?

The Frenchman was unable to complete the game against Bayern, coming off in the 70th minute for compatriot Eduardo Camavinga after picking up an injury. Los Blancos confirmed on Thursday that Tchouaméni had suffered a stress injury to his left foot and reports suggest he has only a “20% chance” of playing against Dortmund at Wembley Stadium on 1 June.

The 24-year-old is just one of several first-team regulars to drop out of the team for the trip to Granada, which is, of course, something of a dead rubber with Madrid having already wrapped up the LaLiga title.

Why aren’t Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior playing from the start against Granada?

Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior lead the big names who have been rested by Ancelotti for the clash in Andalusia, although there appears to be nothing for the Italian or Madrid fans to worry about in relation to their fitness

The attacking duo have been named on the bench, with their exclusion from the starting lineup purely to manage their game time following a tough recent schedule and ahead of another Champions League final.

The same goes for Dani Carvajal, Nahco, Toni Kroos, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde and Ferland Mendy, all of whom started in midweek but have been named among the substitutes in Granada.

Having now recovered from two separate serious knee injuries, Thibaut Courtois starts his second league game in succession, which leaves the debate about whether he or deputy Andriy Lunin will start in goal against Dortmund at the beginning of June.
