Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was ruled out of his side’s Premier League game against Forest this weekend after sustaining an injury. He was out of the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea before being missing against Brighton. Today, against Forest, he is not in the XI.

What has Pep Guardiola said about Haaland’s availability?

The Norwegian striker didn’t feature in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Chelsea on Saturday, with manager Pep Guardiola stating before the game: “He’s injured. I don’t think it’s much but he’s not able today.”

Ahead of the game, Guardiola was asked by the press for an update on the fitness of his three questionable players, Haaland, Foden and Stones: “Erling is not ready for tomorrow and [Phil Foden and John Stones] are ready”.

Haaland’s Champions League struggles in Real Madrid defeat

The 23-year-old, who has broken all sorts of record since moving to England, has come under some criticism for his performances in recent weeks and struggled to make an impact in the two-legged Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, which City lost.

Haaland was surprisingly taken off for Julián Álvarez at the start of extra-time in what initially looked to be a tactical substitution, although it now looks like the player is indeed set for some time on the sidelines.

When will Haaland be back?

There is no information on when Erling Haaland will return to action, with Pep Guardiola keeping tight-lipped on his recovery. City names him on the bench against Forest, meaning that he could well feature at some point.

Why is Phil Foden not playing against Nottingham Forest?

As for Foden, his absence from training caught most by surprise; he is not in the squad.
