Update:

Only six games remain in the current LaLiga EA Sports 24/25 season and the battle for the title has boiled down to a two horse race between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid with Atletico out of contention as Diego Simeone’s team fell to a 1-0 defeat away in Las Palmas and would now need a small miracle to become crowned league champions.

Both the Catalan giants and Real Madrid faced needed last minute winners in their respective home games this weekend in matchday 32. Barcelona trailed at one point 1-3 to Celta Vigo and needed a late injury time spot kick from Raphinha to secure maximum points as part of a 4-3 victory.

At the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night, it looked like Real Madrid were set to cash in their chips when Fede Valverde produced an exquisite strike in the 92nd minute to break the deadlock against a resolute Athletic Club. As things stand with half a dozen games left in the campaign, Barça are still very much in control with a four point advantage over ‘Los Blancos’.

Barcelona also face Madrid at home on May 11th and with a 0-4 win at the Bernabeu earlier in the season, hold a strong advantage with head-to-head the employed metric by LaLiga should teams finish level on points at the end of the campaign.

Both the heavyweights of Spanish football will also come face-to face in the forthcoming Copa del Rey final on April 26.
