Women’s World Cup star Linda Caicedo on Real Madrid’s pre-season trip to Mexico: who are they playing and when?
Caicedo and Madrid will play two friendly games in Mexico as they shape up for the new Liga F season.
Fresh from starring at the 2023 Women’s World Cup with Colombia, Linda Caicedo is excited about her first full season with Real Madrid. The 18-year-old scored twice for Las Cafeteras as they reached the quarter-finals in Australia and New Zealand. The South Americans’ elimination at the hands of eventual winners England came less than two weeks ago, yet Caicedo has already been back in training with her club for four days and is about to jet off to Mexico for a pre-season trip.
Real Madrid ready for “a winning year”
“I’m happy to be back with my teammates, I have a really good feeling about it. We just want the season to start. We have a great trip to Mexico coming up, we want to make the most of it”, Caicedo told the Real Madrid media team.
“Real Madrid is a big club and you always need to be at the top. We are gearing up for the season in the best possible way. I think it’s going to be an amazing year, a year of winning and good vibes in general”, she continued.
When are Madrid playing in Mexico?
Caicedo and Real Madrid will play two friendly matches in Mexico against Club América and Tigres, which will be played on 29 August and 3 September respectively. And the Colombian hopes those warm-up games ensure she is in top condition for the start of Liga F.
“It’s important to train, but what we really like is playing, and there would be nothing better than going to Mexico and performing at our best. That would have us going into this new season in great spirits and with plenty of confidence to do well”, she concluded.
When do Caicedo and Real Madrid play their first Liga F match?
Real Madrid Femenino’s first match of the new league season will see them host Real Betis at Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano in the Spanish capital on Saturday 9 September. Las Blancas, who have only been competing under the Real Madrid name since 2020, are still searching for their first ever trophy after finishing second in Liga F last term.
