World Cup 2026 resale madness: U.S. tickets soaring past $100,000 before the tournament begins
Official resale sites in the U.S. are listing prices that range from $800 to more than a million dollars.

Only a handful of tickets for the 2026 World Cup have been sold through official channels after a series of FIFA lotteries — yet the resale market is already booming. In the U.S., World Cup tickets can be resold on platforms like StubHub and Vivid Seats.
For context, FIFA regulates prices during the presale phase. Tickets for the final at MetLife Stadium are priced between $2,000 and nearly $7,000. The United States’ opening match at SoFi Stadium is listed between $1,100 and almost $3,000.
The USMNT will make its 2026 World Cup debut on June 12. The chosen venue is SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It’s still too early to know who the Americans will face, but resale prices have already reached staggering levels.
For that first match of the Stars and Stripes, StubHub lists tickets from $1,100 all the way up to $148,000 in a VIP section. The home of the Rams and Chargers is one of the newest stadiums in the NFL, and the FIFA World Cup will be its biggest test yet. On Vivid Seats, prices range from $1,200 to $48,000.
The U.S. squad will move from California to Washington for its second match on June 19. Lumen Field in Seattle will host that group-stage game, and prices — for now — aren’t as extreme. StubHub has resale tickets starting at $900 and going as high as $250,000.
Mauricio Pochettino and his players will return to SoFi Stadium to close out the group stage on June 25. Resale prices are lower than for the opener, with the most expensive seats going for just over $28,000. Even so, one resale package on StubHub is listed at more than $1 million.
From the opening match to the final, the priciest tickets of all
If you’re planning to travel to Mexico for the World Cup’s opening game, be prepared — resale prices won’t be cheap even if you’re paying in dollars. On StubHub, tickets for Mexico’s first match, to be played at Estadio Banorte, range from $3,800 to nearly $65,000.
One of the priciest events, inevitably, is the final. The last game of the 2026 World Cup will take place at MetLife Stadium in New York, and the prices are staggering. Seats in the West Mezzanine Club and the Corona Beach Club top $150,000. Some of the most extravagant ticket packages go for over half a million dollars — the going rate for a chance to see the team that lifts the World Cup.
