Bosnia possible starting XI against the United States in World Cup Round of 32
Bosnia will face the United States next Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in San Francisco.
Bosnia will be aiming to pull off an upset when they take on one of the tournament hosts, the United States, who are looking to continue making history by advancing as far as possible.
The Europeans qualified for the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams after finishing behind Switzerland and Canada, who placed first and second, respectively, in Group B.
Bosnia’s squad includes a familiar face for U.S. fans. Esmir Bajraktarevic, who was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, chose to represent his parents’ homeland after they survived the war and settled in the United States.
Bajraktarevic represented the United States at youth level and even made his senior debut in a friendly in 2024. However, he ultimately decided to switch his international allegiance to Bosnia, while never forgetting his roots.
Alongside the PSV Eindhoven forward, Bosnia boast other dangerous attacking players, including striker Edin Dzeko, who has enjoyed a distinguished club career with Manchester City, Roma and Inter Milan, as well as Stuttgart forward Ermedin Demirovic.
Probable Bosnia lineup vs United States
Goalkeeper: Nikola Vasilj
Defenders: Sead Kolasinac, Tarik Muharemovic, Nikola Katic, Amar Dedic
Midfielders: Amar Memic, Ivan Sunjic, Ivan Basic, Esmir Bajraktarevic
Forwards: Edin Dzeko, Ermedin Demirovic
