The 2026 World Cup which will be hosted by Canada, United States and Mexico is just days away.

As part of preparation ahead of the tournament, the Mexico national team lined up for the official pre-World Cup photo shoot.

This afternoon, El Tri visited the National Museum of Anthropology and posed in front of the Sun Stone; an emblematic piece with deeply rooted cultural significance that is in fact depicted on the national team’s home jersey.

The group includes the 26 players, the coaching staff and a delegation of executives made up of: Mikel Arriola, Commissioner of the Mexican Football Federation; Ivar Sisniega, Executive President of the FMF; and Dulio Davino, Sporting Director of the Men’s National Teams. They then visited the Mexica Hall, which houses various depictions of the pre-Hispanic ballgame and other Mexica cultural relics.

To conclude the tour, they gathered at El Paraguas, an emblematic fountain that has become an icon within the Museum.

When will Mexico play at the 2026 World Cup?

The national side will have the honor of opening this World Cup alongside South Africa next Thursday, June 11. Mexico’s second opponent will be South Korea with the match scheduled for Thursday, June 18 at Estadio Guadalajara. Finally, Javier Aguirre’s squad will close their group stage by facing Czechia on Wednesday, June 24 at Estadio CDMX.
