Iran ‘wins’ four visas from Trump
The Asian federation filed an appeal after 15 members of its delegation were barred from entering the United States.

The Iranian Football Federation has secured entry visas for four members of its delegation to the United States after winning an appeal against an earlier denial issued under the travel restrictions imposed during Donald Trump’s presidency. A further 11 members of the delegation, including federation president Mehdi Taj, remain barred from entering the country.
Ten members of the Iranian delegation appealed after being refused entry visas, and four of them were successful. Those granted access include an analyst from the coaching staff and two officials from the federation’s international department.
Among those still denied entry to the United States are Taj, one of the federation’s vice presidents, two administrators, a press officer and a member of the security staff.
The ongoing entry restrictions have forced Iran to base its training camp in Mexico. Under the current arrangements, the team is only permitted to enter the United States on matchdays and must leave the country immediately after the game.
