Mexico’s 2026 World Cup jersey plan leaked: how El Tri will take a three-pronged approach to dress code

With just a few days to go before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Footy Headlines, a website specializing in sports apparel information, has leaked what it says is the planned jersey distribution for the Mexican National Team during the group stage of the tournament, which Mexico will co-host alongside the United States and Canada.

According to the report, El Tri is expected to move away from its approach at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where it wore only its designated home kit in all three group-stage games. This time, the team would rotate through all three uniforms during the opening round.

Mexico’s traditional home kit would be reserved for the team’s most high-profile appearance of the group stage: the tournament opener and its first game on home soil. The iconic green jersey is expected to create a striking contrast against South Africa’s yellow uniform, worn by Bafana Bafana.

Mexico vs South Korea | Black jersey

Classified as the team’s third kit, the black uniform is reportedly being saved for what could be Mexico’s toughest group-stage challenge. South Korea’s primary kit for the tournament is red, while its alternate uniform features a lilac color scheme, making the black option a natural choice.

Mexico vs Czech Republic | White jersey

To close out group-stage play, Mexico would wear its away kit. The predominantly white design, accented with green and red details, would be used against a Czech Republic side whose main uniform also features shades of red.
