World Cup 2026 Group K: Standings, results, and who can qualify
One nation in Group K has confirmed its place in the knockout stage, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal remind us what they can do.
Colombia has become the first team in Group K to reach the 2026 World Cup round of 32, while Portugal put its opening-game disappointment firmly behind it with the biggest win of the group’s second round.
After beating Uzbekistan in its opener, Colombia secured qualification with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over DR Congo in Guadalajara. Daniel Muñoz scored the only goal in the 76th minute after Juan Quintero’s pass found the Crystal Palace defender surging into the penalty area. Colombia dominated possession and chances throughout, but goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi kept DR Congo in the contest until the decisive breakthrough.
Earlier in Houston, Portugal responded to its frustrating draw against DR Congo by thrashing Uzbekistan 5-0. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice, becoming the first player in history to score at six different World Cups. Nuno Mendes, an own goal from Utkir Yusupov, and Rafael Leão completed the scoring as Roberto Martínez’s side moved into second place.
