Armoured car convoy accompanies Kylian Mbappé as he visits father’s native Cameroon

The Paris Saint-Germain forward took part in football and basketball games, visited his charity’s school and sampled Cameroonian cuisine.

French superstar Kylian Mbappé is spending his time on the off season visiting Cameroon.

The 24-year-old’s father is of Cameroonian heritage and Mbappé has a number of charitable interests based in the African country.

Mbappé touched down in Cameroon on Thursday and has been the focus of huge public interest. Upon leaving the airport he was taken away in an SUV with tinted windows and protected by a police convoy.

Video from Cameroon appears to show at least one military-style, armoured car in the convoy.

Why is Kylian Mbappé in Cameroon?

The Paris Saint-Germain forward may be on holiday but he has had a busy schedule while in Cameroon. He has toured a school set up by his charitable foundation ‘Inspired By KM’. The school provides education for the deaf and hearing impaired.

Mbappé gave a public appearance soon after touching down in Cameroon, speaking in front of hundreds of fans in the capital of Yaounde. His arrival was marked with close to a hundred traditional dancers.

During his time in the country ‘Inspired By KM’ has also taken part in a football match against local side Vent d’Etoudi and featured in a basketball game.
