Beyoncé went viral for using robot arms at her live show

Beyoncé Knowles’ Renaissance World Tour included impressive choreography, costumes, and dance moves. But the robotic arms just might be the most impressive.

Beyoncé is known for her stage performance and her Renaissance World Tour has been no exception. Apart from the impressive dance moves and costumes, her tour showcased a set of robot arms. That’s right - robot arms.

The robot arms move with Beyoncé as she dances on stage. Each arm is estimated to cost around $100,000 and has “seven degrees of freedom”, meaning, they’re able to move in more directions than your typical robot arm (there’s a phrase I never heard myself saying).

The robot arms follow a pre-designed path that Beyoncé dances around. She has to adjust to them - not the other way around. Thus, one wrong move and those robot arms could knock her right out. Fortunately, Beyoncé is one of the most talented and disciplined performers, so it seems unlikely we’ll need to worry about that.
