Update:
This is how John Ryder ended up after the fight against Canelo Álvarez in Mexico

John Ryder was dealt a comprehensive defeat to Canelo Álvarez on Saturday, and for the most part that all stemmed from a broken nose that he suffered in the third round.

While he was stunned and shaken for three or four rounds, simply trying to catch his breath and find his feet, Ryder impressed both his opponent and the Mexican crowd with his dogged determination and refusal to stay down.

In the post fight interview, the damage done to the British fighter was all too apparent and Ryder said that this was the first broken nose that he had ever suffered. “It is what it is, you know. Something new to me in the boxing ring and something I’ll learn from.”

There are already reports swirling around the boxing world that this defeat to Álvarez, comprehensive though it was, could lead to bigger things for Ryder, with big names interested in his performance and leading perhaps to future big-money bouts for him.
