SUPER BOWL 2024

This is the state of the field at Allegiant Stadium ahead of Super Bowl LVIII

We’re just a week away from Super Bowl LVIII between the Chiefs and 49ers and the natural-grass field is still going through some paint work.

Update:

Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, is a futuristic-looking stadium that’s hosting the Super Bowl for the first time this year when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers. The field is as unique as the stadium’s exterior, with natural grass that is almost always exposed to the sun, but rolled up for the games.

Last year, when the Chiefs beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, there was a bit of a problem when the players were slipping about on the field. This year, the NFL is taking extra measures to make sure that does not happen again.

“This surface has been nurtured from the time the grass was planted to the Super Bowl,” said Jeff Miller, the NFL’s vice president of communications. “It’s maintained with a number of tools and metrics... Our field management expert has been on this for weeks and has visited the field frequently and will do so over the next two weeks ahead of the game.”
