Tension was high ahead of the game as fights broke out between fans and Brazilian police ahead of the game, but it didn’t stop there. There was a moment between Lionel Messi and Rodrygo that ended up in a heated discussion that didn’t look pretty. Now, it’s been revealed what was said and indeed - it was ugly.
Messi had left the field before the start after the fights broke out in the stands, and Rodrygo approached him, saying, “You are acting like cowards, don’t you want to play the game?” Messi responded, “We are the World Champions, how are we cowards? Keep your mouth, watch your mouth, kid.”
The discussion continued with the two throwing insults at each other and Messi reminding Rodrygo that his side are world champions. Eventually, Argentina did get the last laugh as they won 1-0 over Brazil.
