The man survived for 90 days with his dog aboard the catamaran; he hunted fish and drank rainwater to survive.
Update:
An Australian man has been rescued along with his dog in the Pacific Ocean after spending almost three months at sea. Timothy Shaddock, 54, set sail from Mexico to complete a near 4,000-mile journey to French Polynesia, before a storm damaged his now battered catamaran.
He was found by a helicopter pilot who was circling 1,200 miles out at sea, looking for tuna. The dog, named Bella, had started following Shaddock before he had left Mexico: “[Bella] just kept following me onto the water... She’s a beautiful animal, I’m just grateful she’s alive. She’s a lot braver than I am, that’s for sure”, he said.
