Watch: Journalists attack Iraq soccer coach Jesus Casas after Asian Cup exit

After Jordan’s shocking 3-2 defeat of Iraq in stoppage time, several reporters expressed their anger towards the Iraq coach during the press conference.

Update:

Iraq was defeated by Jordan in a 3-2 thriller of a match on Monday, eliminating them from the Asian Cup in the quarterfinals. Iraq’s Aymen Hussein was sent off in controversial fashion late in the game when he sat on the field and pretended to eat grass after scoring a goal.

That was followed by Jordan scoring two goals on Iraq, three minutes into stoppage time. While the match itself carried plenty of drama, what happened after was pretty unbelievable, too.

Iraq coach Jesus Casas was preparing to speak in the post match press conference when several reporters began to point and yell at him, crowding at the front where he was seated before security finally escorted them out. Casas then expressed his disappointment that the reporters only seemed to focus on the negative, rather than being proud of what the team had accomplished. Iraq’s football association released a statement saying they “denounce the blatant and abhorrent behavior that occurred against the coach” and said that they would “not deal with these media personnel who seek to cause chaos”.
