Lewandowski agent backpedals over Real Madrid

The agent of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has backtracked over comments in which he appeared to confirm Real Madrid's interest in a summer deal for the Pole.

Speaking as he collected Poland's player of the year award on behalf of Lewandowski on Saturday, Cezary Kucharski admitted: "There is something going on with Real Madrid."

Two days later, however, Kucharski moved to deny any contact with Real or any club aside from Bayern, branding reports of negotiations with other sides as "nonsense".

He told Polsat Sport: "There have been no talks with Real Madrid about a transfer. It's just speculation. Because of the player he is, there are a lot of rumours surrounding Robert. He's well known not only in Poland and Germany, but also across Europe."

Kucharski continued: "Teams are linked with him in every transfer window. I can tell you one thing: we haven't spoken to the Spanish club."

And, according to Lewandowski's representative, the same goes for suggestions that the 27-year-old could be on his way to teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus or Manchester City.

"There have been no conversations with PSG," he declared. "The British press talk about teams in England, the Spanish press about Real Madrid, the Italian press about Juventus. Robert is linked with a big club in every country, but right now he's at a club that's a good fit for him and he doesn't need to change."

Indeed, the only talks Kucharski was willing to discuss concerned the possibility of Lewandowski renewing his contract at the Allianz Arena.

"I know [Bayern Munich CEO] Karl-Heinz Rummenigge knows 'Lewy' is a great player, how important he is to Bayern and that he has to reward him for it," he said.
