Granada sack Sandoval; José González to take over
Former Cádiz coach José González has been lined up to replace Sandoval at Los Cármenes with the side currently propping up the Liga table.
Granada have sacked José Ramón Sandoval after defeat to Valencia on Sunday night left the side at the bottom of the Primera División table. Although not yet officially confirmed, it is expected that former Cádiz boss José González will be tasked with keeping Granada up.
Sandoval, who was already on the ropes after Granada’s recent 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Eibar, held on to his post by his fingertips after beating Getafe 3-2. Since then, Granada have lost four consecutive matches (Villarreal, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Valencia) and the side are now propping up the division and four points from safety.
González, 49, played as a striker for Cádiz, Mallorca, Albacete, Rayo, Málaga and Tianjin Lifei in China, retiring in 1997. As a coach he led Cádiz on three different occasions, Albacate, Murcia and Córdoba. His most recent post was as an assistant coach to Gregorio Manzano at Beijing Gouan.
