Diego Costa has given the green light for his return to Atlético, according to 'Sky Sports' which sets the wheels in motion for the Hispano-Brazilian to regress to the Calderón this summer. The 27-year-old left Atlético in the summer of 2014 when Chelsea agreed to meet his buy-out fee - 38 millions euros, after winning the league title and coming desperately close to winning the Champions League with the Rojiblancos. With Atleti, he scored 27 goals in domestic competition and eight in Europe.

Diego Costa is the man Simeone hs asked for to lead the Atlético attack next season. El Cholo hasn't been fully satisfied with any of the players who were brought in to replace him during the past two seasons - particularly Mandzukic in the second half of the first season and Jackson this season. Costa meanwhile hasn't been at his best during his time in England although he has consistently been one of Chelsea's best players, scoring 20 goals in his first season and 15 in the current campaign

Prsently 10th in the table, it looks likely that Chelsea won't be in European competition next season. Diego Costa has told Atlético that he is keen to come back and the Rojiblancos will do what they can to see it happen although they will first need to presuade Antonio Conte to let his trusty 'No.19' go.
