Real Madrid - Manchester City
Will Gallagher brothers be at Bernabéu for Madrid-Man City?
Noel and Liam Gallagher aren't speaking to each other: watch out if they meet at the Real Madrid - Manchester City Champions League semi-final second leg.
Manchester City’s most famous fans, recognisable anywhere on the planet, are without doubt Liam and Noel Gallagher. The brothers, founders of the Britpop ban Oasis are dyed in the wool citizens and made their support of their beloved club part of their huge success in the 90s, along with smash hits such as Shakermaker, Live Forever, Cigarettes & Alcohol and Wonderwall.
Their fiery characters have seen the pair have some huge feuds over the years and they've barely spoken since the final break up of Oasis. But on Wednesday they could end up running into each other, at the Bernabéu, with Manchester City in Madrid for the perfectly poised Champions League semi-final second leg, after the 0-0 draw at the Etihad.
Guitarist Noel was at the first leg, and when he found himself staying in the same hotel as Real Madrid, he said: “I’m in the same hotel as Real Madrid. I’m going to have a quick drink here and then we’re going to find out if we can evacuate this hotel a couple of times.”
Singer Liam knows the Bernabéu only too well. He was in the ground in 2012, but didn’t get to watch the whole game. Somewhat tired and emotional, he first caused a scene with his wild celebrations when City opened through Dezko, before causing an even bigger fuss with a tantrum when Madrid equalised. The police intervened to try and calm him down before he was eventually thrown out for "unruly behaviour". (City took the lead again, but were pegged back and Ronaldo grabbed the winner in the 90th minute).
The chances look good that both could be at the match: Noel has just finished his recent tour with the High Flying Birds and is expected to be there, while Liam has just finished a holiday in Malta.
Fireworks off the pitch if they end up next to each other?
