Malaga to earn a million euros if Madrid win La Liga

Built into the agreement in the 27 million euro signing of Isco, if the Madrid side go on to win the league the Andalusian club would earn a tidy sum.

On 27 June 2013 Real Madrid confirmed the signing of Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez, more commonly known as "Isco". The transfer of 30 million euros was split with a fixed fee of 27 million and then another three based on certain sporting criteria being met over the five subsequent years.

The condition was that Madrid would pay one million euros for each of the next three league titles they won over that five year period. So far, Malaga have not seen any of that reward with Barcelona and Atlético keeping the trophy away from the Bernabeu, however, going into the last day of the season there is a chance that it could happen now.

Looking on with interest

It would appear clear - for financial reasons anyway - that Malaga will be hopeful of Barcelona slipping up. If not, they would lose the potential to earn one of the three payments and only have an opportunity to do so for two more seasons. With speculation and accusations around in recent weeks about match fixing or incentives to win, it's probably a good thing that Malaga are not involved with either of the title games this weekend. In saying that, Malaga have already shown that they won't roll over for the capital club having taken four points off them this season - a goalless draw at the Bernabea and a 1-1 in La Roselada.
