Luis Enrique spoke to the press after his side sealed the 2015-16 Liga championship in Granada with a 3-0 win.

The team controlled all phases of the match. It looked like you knew how to approach the game.

“The team played very well. When it was 0-0 we had to take more risks. When we went 1-0 up, we had to maintain a shape that allowed us to attack in possession and pressure the opposition. We controlled their transitions and set-pieces. We’re very satisfied and hope the fans go out to celebrate.”

Are you satisfied that everything ended well after all the talk of suitcases?

“This is the country of speculation. Granada achieved their objective and they went out to play their game. They didn’t make it easy for us. We needed to get a goal as early as possible and we managed to do that.”

What did you think of the state of the pitch?

“There are things we can’t control. Sometimes it works in your favour, as with the second goal. When the pitch is dry it also affects the opposition in their transitions. I think that the majority, or taking one away, of the games we have won have been on pitches in a perfect state. Dry pitches suit us.”

You said two weeks ago you were going to throw a huge party. Is that still the case?

“I’m a bit boring. I hope there’s a big party and I’ll have to adapt to my 46 years of age but I’ll have a good time. I’ll remember the people who have supported us through the tough times. The fans have stuck with us despite the things that get built up.”
