Simeone's touching reply to son Gio's 'good luck' message

Diego Simeone is thousands of miles from his family but was genuinely touched when he received a video message from his son Giovanni to wish him luck in next week's Champions League final.

The Atlético coach listened as Gio's message was played to him during a meeting with the press. The 20-year-old told his Dad: "I hope it's a great game - I'm sure everyone is very motivated. There's really no need for words from me, I am sure that all of the people there, all Atléticos will be well prepared in the best way possible. Dad, I love you very much and I always miss you. The most important thing here right now is knowing that you are happy - that's what motivates me to keep going forward".

El Cholo listen intently, then gave his reply: "Obviously I'm out of the country and it's never nice to be far away from your sons, it's never easy. It's been four and half months now since we've seen each other, and that naturally causes difficulties - above all because we don't have any quality time together, and that's one of the most important things. We'll try to make up for that by spending some quality time together when we see each other next, when we are all together".
