Morata will only go to Chelsea or Manchester United

Álvaro Morata's dream is to triumph with his hometown team Real Madrid but he is fully aware that while Karim Benzema is at the club he will always be playing second fiddle. That's the main reason why he has made a decision as to where his future will lie. The player knows that Real Madrid want to exercise their buy-back option then sell him on at a profit and would only be open to join Chelsea or Manchester United, rather than Arsenal or PSG - the four clubs who have shown the most interest in signing him this summer.

The presence of Antonio Conte at Chelsea (the coach played a key role in Morata's move to Juventus) and José Mourinho at Manchester United is what has swayed the striker while planning for his future. It was Mourinho who handed him his debut at Real Madrid, in the Copa del Rey Last 16 tie against Levante on 22 December 2010. For that reason, Morata has always had complimentary words to say about Mourinho. “He's the one who took a chance on me and the one who made sure that I wasn't offloaded in the summer. He gave me a lot of advice which has made me a better player and I will always be grateful to him for that”, the striker said back in 2012. Now it turns out that Mourinho wants Morata to be part of his attack at Manchester United and the player would be delighted to be reunited with the Portuguese manager. Sources close to Mourinho say that he has already phoned the Spain international to personally state his interest in bringing him to Old Trafford and hear from Morata first hand whether he would be willing to join.

Madrid have decided that they will recover Morata by exercising the buy-back clause in the player's contract; they will pay Juventus 30 million euros (after having originally sold him to the Italians for 22 million) and hope they can cash in by selling him for a fee of around 60 million.

Should Morata join Mou at United, he would substantially boost his annual salary. At Juventus, he earns a take-home salary of 4.5 million euros while at Old Trafford he could expect to earn at least six million after tax - the figure which Real Madrid would have to pay him if he stays and forms part of Zidane's squad next season - as stipulated in another clause in his contract. Should he accept PSG's offer, he could demand even higher wages. The French club would be open to pay Morata nine million euros net, but Morata is clear that he wants to play in a more competitive league like the Premier League...
