Speaking to the Radio Nacional de España programme 'Radiogaceta' in Spain, Del Bosque said: "I have no intention of continuing as national coach."

"However the European Championships went, I had no doubts about my future," he explained. "My intention is to see out my contract until 31 July."

The 65-year-old added that the job would be his last in management. "I won't carry on as a coach," he declared.

World Cup and European Championship wins

Del Bosque took over from Luis Aragonés in 2008, leading La Roja to victory at the 2010 World Cup and a successful defence of their European title in 2012.

But those triumphs were followed by an ignominious group-stage exit at the 2014 World Cup, before Spain were knocked out by Italy in the last 16 of Euro 2016.

Spain won the World Cup in 2010 under Del Bosque.
