Simeone: "It's hard to explain how I felt after Milan"
The Atlético coach spoke to the press ahead of his side's friendly against Tottenham. "I’m a young coach and football will lead me to new challenges."
Motivation
“I can’t put into words everything I felt after the final in Milan in the short time I have to talk to the press. But now I feel strong, motivated, enthusiastic and growing in every training session. Now we have to work hard in pre-season, finalize the ins and outs in the squad and from there make the most of our strengths during the season.
Leaving Atlético
“I never talked along the lines of leaving Atlético, I never had that sensation. It’s very hard to explain what I felt after that final. For me it was like a bereavement and I needed to pick a fight. And I did that where I needed to. Now I’m ready for what comes next.”
Argentina
“Nobody has ever managed a club and the Argentina national team. But in the future it will be a definite possibility. Lots of coaches would like to do it but they can’t because of their contracts with their clubs. It is viable? It will be in time.”
Premier League and Serie A
“It’s obvious I’m a young coach and football will lead me to new challenges, new goals and I’m keen on both the Premier League and Serie A.”
Griezmann
“For me he is one of the best three players in Europe and a candidate for the Ballon d’Or, on top of whatever else he wins in his career. He scores goals and is always decisive. I hope he wins the Ballon d’Or.”
Tottenham
“More than the opposition we’re looking to work in the best way possible. We want to improve. We want to grow knowing that the players have a lot of competition. They will compete among themselves to see who plays more and who doesn’t.”
