Bayern have already rejected an offer of 65 million euros for the Austrian international and are holding out for 80 million.Real Madrid-Deportivo: LaLiga matchday 20
The message in the Bernabéu this summer has always been: “Before buying, we have to sell.” But that hasn’t stopped Real Madrid chasing new players. Despite interest in Paul Pogba, André Gomes, N’Golo Kanté, Gabriel Jesús and Marco Verratti, the club’s main objective remains Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.
65-million-euro offer
Real made a 65-million-euro offer for the Austria international but this was rejected by Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who called the player’s agent to tell him that Alaba would not be sold during this transfer window.
Ancelotti chemistry
Bayern made their decision the day before the Bundesliga officially gets underway with the German Supercup game against Borussia Dortmund. Alaba does not want to force the issue as he has been at Bayern for seven years and appears to be enjoying working under Carlo Ancelotti, who has used him in his preferred positions on the left instead of as a centre half, as Pep Guardiola did.
Bayern are thought to be holding out for an offer of closer to 80 million euros for Alaba, a figure that could be made up in cash or with a player that Ancelotti would like to add to his squad from the Bernabéu.
