All is not well in Vallecas, if reports that emerged on Thursday night are to be believed. According to national radio station Cadena SER, Rayo Vallecano coach José Ramón Sandoval assaulted Venezuelan forward Miku in a training session in Almeria last Sunday.
Tensions were high after falling to the bottom of the table
The incident took place after Rayo’s disappointing 3-0 loss to Almeria on Saturday evening. Tensions were running high following the loss that condemned Rayo to the bottom of the Segunda (now known officially as LaLiga 1|2|3) table after collecting just a single point from the opening three games of the season.

The club decided to keep the squad in Almeria, who they were due to face again on Tuesday evening in the Copa del Rey and it is during Sunday morning’s post-match training session that Cadena SER reports Sandoval lost patience with Miku and came to blows with the striker.
Sandoval also insulted captain Trashorras
When club captain Roberto Trashorras stepped in to maintain the peace, Sandoval turned his attention to the veteran Rayista. “Shut up, you’re a shit captain!” he said. “Stop defending your friend and concentrate on rest of the squad. And keep quiet because it was the attitude of you and others like you that got Rayo relegated in the first place.”
Trashorras keeps quiet
Trashorras spoke to the press this morning but was reluctant to open up on the incident. “Sorry. As you can understand I don’t want to make any comment,” he said.
Rayo ran out 2-0 winners over Almeria in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night and will be hoping to maintain momentum for Sunday’s visit of Mallorca to Vallecas (12.00 CEST).
