Jesé: "I didn't come to PSG to be in the same situation as Madrid"
Following Jesé's bad reaction to being substituted on the weekend, the ex-Real Madrid forward said he signed for PSG not to sit on the bench, but to play every game
Ex-Real Madrid player Jesé began a new era in his career this summer as he left the club he signed for as a boy to join PSG. His time in Paris didn’t get off to the best of starts when he discovered he would need an appendix operation just hours after making his Ligue 1 debut, which ruled him out for the opening weeks of the season.
However, with Jesé now fit again, the 23-year old Spaniard is ready to fight for his place in Unai Emery’s starting 11, and has already made clear that he didn’t leave Madrid to sit on the bench.
Jesé's substitution displeasure
Like any big European club, though, spending a guaranteed 90 minutes on the field every game is never a certainty, as Jesé already found out when he was substituted on the weekend, much to his visible displeasure.
Following that incident, Jesé talked to the media about his departure from Real Madrid and how he is settling in to his new club.
Competition at PSG: “The truth is that I didn’t come to Paris to be in the same situation as in Madrid. I came with the desire to play every game, despite the fact there are great players here.”
Madrid exit: “It was difficult because I was there for ten years, But PSG is a great club and good for my future. I came to win titles and grow as a footballer.”
Emery: “He tried to sign me during his time at Sevilla. He didn’t promise me a starting place, it doesn’t work that way. You have to earn it. Even the best players have to fight for their place.”
Preferred position: “You change position quite often during a match, but I prefer the left.”
Your development as a player: “I haven’t exploded because of the lack of continuity I’ve had. When I play I’m convinced that’ll improve.”
Contractual clause against making music? “It’s not true that there’s a clause in my contract that prohibits me making music.”
