Simeone: "It would be arrogant to think beyond the PSV game"
Atlético's Diego Simeone said ahead of tomorrow's game: "All of us needed a win to boost our confidence. In Vigo, the team loosened up in the second half".
Diego Pablo Simeone faced the media on Monday evening as his Atlético side prepare to take on PSV Eindhoven at the Philips Stadion in their opening Champions League match.
The team responded in Vigo: "All of us needed a win to boost our confidence. In Vigo, the team loosened up in the second half".
Holland debut: "It's a nice stadium, and the atmosphere will be fantastic so what better way to start. Six months ago, what mattered was goals, tomorrow it will be points".
Cautious approach: "Have we got what it takes to win the Champions League? We've got what it takes to win tomorrow... Thinking any further than that would be presumptious at this stage".
Rotating the team: "For any coach, the bigger the squad, the more difficult it is to give everyone playing time. Thomas and Vrsaljko haven't travelled with us, even though they deserve to be here".
PSV, tough customers: "Both of us are better teams than we were 15 days ago. PSV are a great side, especially on the break. They played using two different systems last season".
Compicated start: "Nobody can guarantee that by winning tomorrow, we'll make the next round. We lost the first game two seasons ago and ended top of the group..."
