James takes to Twitter amid Real Madrid anger with Colombia

James Rodríguez has taken to social media with an upbeat message as he bids to get over his weekend calf injury - one that hinted he's optimistic he'll make the second of Colombia's upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

In a post on Twitter, the Real Madrid star published a photograph of himself undergoing treatment and striking a thumbs-up pose, with the caption: "Recovering to return stronger and in even better shape."

Pulled up before Eibar stalemate

James missed Madrid's draw with Eibar on Sunday after picking up a soleus issue in the warm-up, with the LaLiga club later releasing a statement confirming that he had suffered a grade 1 strain.

Real doctors estimated a two-week period out and felt he should remain in Spain rather than link up with José Pékerman's side ahead of their matches against Paraguay and Uruguay on 7 and 11 October, respectively.

Colombia out to get James back for Uruguay game

But Los Cafeteros had other ideas, insisting the attacking midfielder travel to South America to be assessed by their medical staff.

And though he'll play no part in Friday's clash in Asunción, Colombia are confident they can nurse the 25-year-old back in time to face the Uruguayans four days later.

Real bemused about potential for relapse

With that game taking place a little over a week after his injury, Real are said to be unhappy with Colombia over the risk of James' calf flaring up again - particularly having recently also lost fellow midfield men Casemiro and Luka Modric.
