Zidane's best 11 has only played FOUR times in 37 games
Owing to a run of bad luck with injuries since Zidane became Real Madrid coach in January, the Frenchman has only been able to chose his best 11 an incredible four times.
Zidane has been served up another headache with the injury to Sergio Ramos, who will be out for six weeks and miss Real Madrid’s next four matches (the target is to make it back in time for the derby away at Atlético on 19 November).
'Best 11' not seen since Champions League final
However, such a setback is nothing new for the French coach. Since Madrid won the Champions League on 28 May, Zidane has not been able to field his first-choice eleven in the 10 competitive games played since then (largely owing to injuries).
Zizou's favoured line-up played just four times in 37 games
In fact, Zidane has only been able to pick his preferred line-up which started the game in Milan (Keylor, Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo, Modric, Casemiro, Kroos, Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) just FOUR times since he was appointed manager in January out of the 37 games he’s taken charge of in total (10.81%).
Unbeaten record
Those matches came against Barcelona (1-2), Wolfsburg (3-0), Deportivo (0-2) and Atlético (1-1): a record of three victories and a draw, with eight goals scored and just two conceded.
With the latest injury to Ramos, along with the continued recuperation of Casemiro and Modric, it looks like Zidane will now have to wait even longer before he can put all his ‘favourites’ back on the same field again.
