Atlético record third rout of the season in only 8 games
Los Rojiblancos' goal average has risen considerably from a year ago. So far this campaign Simeone's side are averaging 2.6 goals per game, as opposed to 1.5 in the 2015-16 season.

Goals galore
Saturday's 7-1 thrashing of Granada was Atlético's third rout of the season. In the eight games of this year's LaLiga campaign, Simeone's men have handed out thrashings to: Celta (0-4), on Matchday 3; Sporting (5-0) in the third round of games, followed by yesterday's 7-1, corresponding to Matchday 8 of the season.

A healthy goal average
These resounding victories mean Atlético's goal difference is considerably higher than last season's. In the eight games, El Cholo's side have scored 21 goals, averging 2.6 per game, whereas at this stage of the season last year, they had netted on 12 occasions, with an average of 1.5 goals per game. That said, it is worth pointing out that last season their opponents included Sevilla, Barcelona, Villarreal and Real Madrid.

Sharper shooting
As things stand, Atlético sit at the top of the table on 18 points, with the 21 goals for and three against. Los Rojiblancos have not lost a game and have drawn on three occasions - against Alavés, Leganés and Barcelona. Last season they had notched up 16 points, scoring 12 and conceding four, and had lost twice, against Barcelona and Villarreal, as well as drawing against Real Madrid.
