The Spanish right-back believes that Gareth Bale will eventually take over from Ronaldo as the team's talisman but the Portuguese still have plenty left to offer the club.

Dani Carvajal believes Cristiano Ronaldo has a lot of good years left at Real Madrid but has little doubt that Gareth Bale is the right man to replace him when his star does begin to fade.

"Time passes and we know there will be a day when Cristiano is no longer on the same level, just like has happened with all the world stars like Raul and Figo in the past. We don't know when that might be but I think Bale is the suitable man to replace him when it happens."

Ballon d'Or

The mandatory question on the Ballon d'Or was also asked and Carvajal responded saying he believed Ronaldo would be a deserving winner of the award.

"I think Cristiano deserves it. He won the Champions League, the European Cup as the captain of Portugal. He scored a lot of goals. He deserves it."
