Barcelona great Xavi Hernández has talked glowingly of Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho, declaring he'd be a good addition to the squad at the Camp Nou.

The Brazil international attacker has been in fine fettle for the Reds this season, helping Jürgen Klopp's side to the top of the Premier League table.

The 24-year-old's latest star turn came in his country's 3-0 win over Argentina last week, when he rifled in an unstoppable first-half effort to open the scoring.

"Coutinho's a player I've always thought is special"

And in an interview with Goal.com, Xavi said: "Coutinho is a player I have always thought is special - but under Klopp he has gone up another level.

"On form there are not any better midfield players in Europe," added the World Cup-winning midfielder, who left Barça for Qatari outfit Al Sadd in 2015.

"He would suit Barcelona's philosophy well"

"There are not many players that can improve Barcelona, but if you are asking me if he is one of them, on this form, I think he is.

"Technically he is very good. He would suit Barcelona's philosophy well."
