Soul legend Aretha Franklin was one of those asked to perform in the Thanksgiving Day celebrations, more specifically to sing the American national anthem before the Minnesota Vikings played the Lions in Detroit.
The American-born singer, songwriter and musician gave a very different version of the famous Star Spangled Banner and her take on it was witnessed by many watching in the stadium and at home on TV.
Twitter gives its opinion
The listening masses experienced an eclectic array of notes throughout a much longer than normal anthem on a cold Detroit night which was met with an enthusiastic round of applause as it slowly came to an end. As is the norm these days, social media was quick to give it's reaction.

She can take however damn long she likes with the anthem.
