Pre-match press conference

Diego Pablo Simeone previewed tomorrow's meeting with Bayern at the Allianz Arena - the final group game for his Atlético de Madrid side.

You have always held German clubs in high esteem but in recent years, Spanish teams have had the upper hand against sides from the Bundesliga. Why is that?

Because Bayern play against the best teams in the world and that means they will always be up against difficulties - I was referring to the Germany national team, which is consistent, intense, persistent. They have always competed against the best and enjoyed steady growth.

Five games, five wins

When the draw was made, Group D looked among the toughest. But Atlético go into the last group game on five victories. Could you have imagined that back in August?

I always imagine the best possible senario and coming here to Munich in that position to play for first or second place is ideal. It all stems back to that first win in Holland, which was very important, and in Russia where everyone thought we'd win easily.

Milan calling

Inter have been linked to you again. Can you tell us a little about your future?

My future is quite clear, I've got nothing more to say

Your son Gio has said he thinks you will accept the Inter post...

He's my son, I speak to him all the time. My sons, my wife, my Dad... they all know that one day I will coach Inter. It's hardly front page news.

Griezmann says that Ancelotti's Bayern are not as strong as Guardiola's. Would you agree with that?

I think Bayern are an incredibly complicated side. They used different systems between Pep and Ancelotti, but the final objective is what counts. And what matters for Bayern is winning the league, or if not, the Champions League or the Cup. If they do that, people will be saying they are a better side than last season's.
