Lewandowski firma su renovación con el Bayern en presencia de Rummenigge

Robert Lewandowski has extended his deal at the Allianz Arena by two years to 2021, Bayern Munich have confirmed.

Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich in 2014 from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund and was the league's top scorer in the 2015-16 season.

Lewandowski also heads his club's scoring list this season with 11 Bundesliga goals, four behind league leading Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Dortmund.

Real Madrid interest

The striker had been on the wishlist of Spanish giants Real Madrid, but his latest contract extension will put paid to any suitors for the meantime.

"I am very happy that the negotiations were successful and came to a positive result," Lewandowski said. "That means I will stay at Bayern for a few more years. Together we have set great goals."

Bundesliga record

Bayern are chasing a record-extending fifth consecutive Bundesliga title and are in the Champions League last 16 where they will face Arsenal.

"I am happy that we managed to tie one of the best centre forwards in the world to the club for the long-term," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

"We have now guaranteed that another key player will continue to wear the Bayern shirt for the coming years."
