Keylor Navas: I'd keep faith with Real Madrid's goalkeeper
In terms of what the ideal age for a goalkeeper is, Thibaut Courtois is still a young lad: he's only 24. Keylor Navas, on the other hand, turned 30 this month.
That's a point of maturity at which a keeper is perfectly placed to offer that blend of two key characteristics between the sticks: experience and agility.
Bernabéu chiefs never quite won over - despite Keylor's displays
However, the Costa Rican has never quite managed to win over the powers-that-be at Real Madrid. In August 2015, he was a faulty fax machine away from being flogged to Premier League club Manchester United.
He stayed, and became an accidental Bernabéu hero. Real had wanted to sell him, but his exceptional displays saw him earn the love of fans and dressing room alike.
Keylor has earned chance to get back into top nick
Courtois is a superb keeper. Nobody's doubting that. And with Navas yet to return to his best after surgery in the summer, it'd be easy to succumb to the temptation of a close-season change.
But I feel that Keylor has earned the right to get himself back in top form and regain that trademark elasticity with which he produces those miraculous saves.
The kind of saves we witnessed throughout last season. The kind of saves that helped Real Madrid to be crowned European champions. I'd show faith in Keylor.
