Paul Clement and Carlo Ancelotti

Former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich assistant manager, Paul Clement has agreed a deal to be the manager of Swansea City on a two and a half year deal, according to Sky Sports.

The Reading-born Clement was assistant to Carlo Ancelotti during his spells at Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich but leaves the Italian's side for his new role. He accepted the Derby County role after Ancelotti was sacked by Real Madrid but Clement was dismissed from that role with the Championship side. He has helped Ancelotti claim Ligue 1 title honours along with a Copa del Rey with Real Madrid along with a Champions League but this could be the biggest challenge of his career.

Clement's Challenge

Swansea recently fired Bob Bradley after just 85 days in charge with them sitting at the foot of the Premier League table. They are without a win in four and have claimed all three points just three times this season. Ryan Giggs was linked with the job but he interviewed for the same role in the summer and both parties decided against the move.

Bayern Munich released a statement that acknolwedged Swansea's formal approach for their coach that read: “Co-coach Paul Clement has asked FC Bayern Munich to hold talks with Premier League club Swansea City about a commitment as head coach. Bayern’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti and the management board of FC Bayern Munich have fulfilled this wish.”
