...and then there were eight!

Will Friday the 13th prove to be lucky for some of the sides remaining in the 2016/17 Copa del Rey as eight teams await their fate ahead of the quarter final draw.

Current holders FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo, Alaves, Atletico Madrid, Eibar and second division outfit Alcorcon are all in the hat ahead of the midday draw.

A Madrid derby, cup El Clasico showdown, Basque derby are all on the cards as the knockout tournament gets down to the business end of events.

Today's draw is a straight with no seeds and no compensation for lowers ranked teams as per precious rounds.

Quarter final games will take place next Wednesday (Jan 18) and Thursday (Jan 19) with only a Barça-Atletico tie offering the possibility of a Tuesday game. Return legs will take place the following week.
