Odegaard shouldn't go back to Madrid, says Norwegian coach
Ex-Ajax player and current coach of Strømsgodset, Andre Bergdölmo, says Martin Odegaard will "never play” if he goes back to the Spanish capital, and should stay in Holland instead.
Since signing for Heerenveen an 18-month loan deal from Real Madrid earlier this month, Martin Odegaard has generated great media interest in the Netherlands, despite making only a two-minute appearance from the bench so far.
While he’s yet to be given the chance to win over the fans and make a real impression in the Eredivise, some people are already saying that his future lies in the Dutch league.
“He’ll never play at Madrid”
Indeed such a suggestion has come from ex-Ajax player and current coach of Strømsgodset, Andre Bergdölmo, who knows the player well and says he would be better off signing for the Amsterdam giants instead of going back to Madrid where “he’ll never play”.
"Odegaard should opt for Ajax, not for Real Madrid,” said Bergdölmo. “His decision was the best for his development, but I advised him to go to Ajax. Martin has made a lot of money. But if you're honest, you know he'll never play there."
