Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez has said that the club "have never been closer" to sealing a deal for Paris Saint-Germain misfit Jesé Rodríguez.

Has flopped at Parc des Princes

The Real Madrid youth product - who is from the Canary Islands - has been a loan target for the LaLiga club throughout the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who has endured a disappointing time at PSG since a 25-million-euro summer move from Real, has also been pursued by other European clubs.

Middlesbrough in for Jesé

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has confirmed that the Premier League side are working to convince Jesé to swap Paris for the Riverside Stadium.

Ramírez: "The player wants to come"

However, Ramírez said on radio station Cadena SER on Thursday night: "Las Palmas can't compete [financially] with the teams who are after Jesé, but we have the player, who wants to come here, and Las Palmas are ready to push hard.

"Ginés Carvajal [Jesé's agent] will do everything possible to ensure that he comes," the Las Palmas chief continued.

Next 24 hours will be crucial, says Ramírez

He explained that the coming 24 hours would be crunch in their bid to secure his services: "Tomorrow [Friday] we'll know if we're going to get the player."

"I'm very excited and I think that we have never been closer to getting him than we are now," Ramírez concluded.

Halilovic loaned from Hamburg

On Thursday, Las Palmas reached an agreement with Bundesliga club Hamburg to take ex-Barcelona midfielder Alen Halilovic on loan until 2018.
