Gelson Martins: Sporting CP set to ward off interest with new deal
Reports in Portugal say Martins, targeted by the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, is to commit to Sporting with a bumper new pay packet.
Sporting CP are set to end speculation over Gelson Martins' future by tying the 21-year-old down to a new, longer-term deal, according to the Portuguese press.
Tracked by big-name LaLiga pair
Martins, who has been attracting interest from suitors including Real Madrid and Barcelona, is currently under contract at the Estadio José Alvalade until 2021.
A Bola says Sporting are prepared to satisfy the Cape Verde-born starlet's wage demands and that an agreement is in place to extend his commitment.
Has flourished at Sporting since first-team bow
Since making his debut in 2015, Martins has become a key figure in Jorge Jesús's side, particularly impressing watching clubs in this term's Champions League.
Martins, who won his first Portugal cap in October, has scored four goals and supplied nine assists in his 19 league appearances for Sporting this season.
