Gary Lineker trolls Barcelona, 'sh*t on' responses ensue
The former Barcelona striker scored a hat-trick against Real Madrid on this day 30 years ago but Barcelona's Twitter added the wrong goal to the compilation.
On the 31st of January 1987, Gary Lineker scored a hat-trick in an El Clasico that would seal a 3-2 victory in the biggest rivalry in football. Barcelona's Twitter account reminded the former England striker, but were informed by Lineker that the second goal in their recap of his hat-trick was from a different game. The fact that Lineker was wearing number 10 on two of the goals and 8 in the others was the giveaway. (They have since taken the video down from the tweet)
Gary Lineker played over 100 times for Barcelona. As an England international, he played 80 times and scored 48 goals. He is the long-standing host of BBC's Match of the Day and one of the best follows on Twitter for his scathing wit and willingness to speak his mind. Yet, his Twitter responses suggest that he only did one thing in his career!
Lineker has never been one to shy away from a bit of slagging and his self-depreciating humor can be hilarious. Like the time he had a go at Piers Morgan for his brown-nosing of Donald Trump.
Twitter responds
It might be getting stale but Twitter continues to respond with scatological nonsense whenever Lineker sends out a tweet. Just take a look at some of the responses to Lineker's tweet to Barcelona.
