The Real Madrid player generates an income of 88 million dollars (81.7M euros); Messi meanwhile, earns 81.4M dollars (75.6M euros).

Big earners

Forbes announced their list of the 100 highest-paid sportsmen and women on the planet and in at No.1 is Cristiano Ronaldo with a total annual income of 88 millions dollars (81.7 million euros), the figure earned between his salary and publicity contracts. And in second place on Forbes'  lista is Barcelona's Leo Messi, who generates 81.4 millions dollars (75.6 million euros). The two are the only footballers in the top 20 top earning sportsmen and women in the world.

Behind Cristiano and Messi in the top 5 are LeBron James (71.5M). Roger Federer (62.9M) and Kevin Durant (52.2M). The next footballer to appear on the list is Neymar, who comes in at 21 with total, combined income of 34.8 million euros.  

Just two Spanish sportsmen feature on the Forbes list is Rafa Nadal (22), who earns the same as Neymar and one million more than Fernando Alonso (24). .  

Footballers in the Top 100

After Cristiano, Messi and Neymar, there are seven footballers in Forbes' Top 100 highest earners. Ibrahimovic occupies the 23rd position (34.7M), Gareth Bale is in 25th (33.3M). Sergio Agüero is 60th (22.5M), then Schweinsteiger - 80th (20,8M), James - 83th (20,5M),  Di María - 84th (20,5M). Hazard - 85th (20,4M).
